On September 23, 2021, the Joint Technical Committee of the University of Extremadura (UEx) – aQuantum , in charge of coordinating and monitoring the activities foreseen in the Framework Collaboration Agreement between the University of Extremadura and aQuantum for the joint execution of research work related to R&D in the area of Software Engineering and Quantum Computing Programming, met.
The Joint Committee reviewed in detail the activities carried out, as well as the work that has been carried out to date, highlighting the very good research results achieved, reflected in the publications and scientific dissemination carried out jointly. Special mention should be made of the activities related to the “QHealth: Quantum Pharmacogenetics Applied to Aging” project, funded by the CDTI and FEDER within the “Science and Innovation Missions” program.
Based on the good results obtained to date, it was decided to extend and formalize the collaboration between the two groups. Therefore, an important part of the meeting focused on the analysis of the projection of the collaboration in the coming years, in the definition of actions that allow a qualitative leap in the UEx – aQuantum collaboration, allowing both institutions to grow in the field of R&D in Software Engineering and quantum programming in Extremadura.
To this end, the Joint Committee defined a plan of tasks that will allow, in the short term, to define new forms of collaboration between UEx and aQuantum to continue their task of facilitating the adoption of quantum computing in Extremadura.
